Designers recognize the desire for fundamental basics that speak to the current economic conditions.  Classic pieces are back this season. Put your money into things that will last like the little black dress, the 1950’s pencil skirt, high waisted pants and tailored  blouses. Many designer this season seem to think that if the consumer is going spend in this economy, they will invest in something that will be a continual asset to their wardrobe.

Black, white and grey were predominantly shades displayed everywhere on the runways this season. Many designers worked mainly in black and used houndstooth  to break up the darkness with a touch of deep purple , jewel tones or snippets of  bright colors  being present in some collections;  and when they were visible they were often a remembrance of  spring 1980’s.

Designers like Armani presented the 1980’s power suits that  proclaim, “a woman can do anything” combined with patent leather gloves and berets.

Gucci   showcased chic clothing for tough women with the strong undertone of the rocker chick. Prada armed her women with the 1940’s inspired skirt suits and dresses composed of strips of studded leather with swinging carwash skirts that resembled medieval armor.
